The joy of jogging in the early hours of the morning...
I find nothing more peaceful and enjoyable than an early morning jog. Although it is always hard to motivate yourself to get up early and get out, particularly during the cold winter months when it is dark outside, freezing and raining. Jogging in the fresh morning air has a therapeutic quality.
Indeed running whilst everyone is still fast asleep provides a sense of freedom. The streets are quiet and still. You hear your own breathing and your steps when they hit the ground. The birds are waking up and singing in the bushes. You cannot see them but you definitively enjoy their chatty moment.
And most importantly, you feel like the the day belongs to you. As a proverb says, the day belongs to the early birds. And I do believe it. I feel refreshed once I finished the run and I am full of buzz and energy. After the run, I always want to accomplish another task that I would find an excuse to put off normally, such as cleaning, finishing a document that proves difficult for me, or even trying something new and challenging. I feel like I can anything. After all, I have just succeeded in overtaking my procrastination!
When I arrive back home from my run, I always feel proud of me. I overcame that procrastination and forced myself to get up and run when I felt I most certainly did not want to do it. And yet, I never regret having done a jog but always regret not having done one. That is the most important lesson to me: I never regret having done a run but always regret not having done one.
What is the thing that you never regret having done but always regret not having done it? I always motivate myself by reminding me that I would prefer not to regret having done something no matter how hard it is , than having the regret to not have done or even tried to have done it. What about you?
And remember, be kind to yourself , be king to others.
