Locked down

This painting is inspired by a photo. It represents a woman standing behind a large glass window, her elbow resting on the window frame. Although the woman’s glance faces outwards, she appears to be lost in her thoughts, almost daydreaming. She may be confined indoors and wishes to be outside, or maybe is simply bored.

The window reflects a sea landscape. The shore and sea seem to be far out. It appears to be grey and cold outside, which contrasts with the warmth and darkness of the inside.

Only 4 colours were used for the painting: Buff titanium, yellow ochre, raw amber and blue-grey, which combines cold and warm colours.

It took 5 months to do the painting.
